Configuring and Compiling

• Download the latest kernel sources from ftp://ftp.de.kernel.org/pub/linux ftp://ftp.de.kernel.org/pub/linux
• Download DEC2000-t-software revision 2.15a from Hauppauge. URL that worked for me is http://hauppauge.lightpath.net/de/dec215a.exe http://hauppauge.lightpath.net/de/dec215a.exe.
• Unzip the firmware file:

  unzip -j dec215a.exe Software/Oem/STB/App/Boot/STB_PC_T.bin
  

  and as root:

  mkdir -p /usr/lib/hotplug/firmware
  mv STB_PC_T.bin /usr/lib/hotplug/firmware/dvb-ttusb-dec-2000t-2.15a.fw
  

• Unzip the kernel and make menuconfig.
• Under ``Loadable module support'', check ``Enable loadable module support'' and ``Module unloading''.
• You need to configure USB support to suit your USB card or motherboard.
• In ``Bus options (PCI, PCMCIA, EISA, MCA, ISA)'' you need to say yes to ``Support for hot-pluggable devices''.
• Under ``Device Drivers $\rightarrow$ Multimedia devices'', you need to say Yes or Module to ``Video For Linux''. Under ``Device Drivers $\rightarrow$ Multimedia devices $\rightarrow$ Digital Video Broadcasting Devices'', say Yes to ``DVB For Linux'', ``DVB Core Support'' and Module to ``Technotrend/Hauppauge USB DEC devices''.
• Set the remaining configuration options as you wish.
• make, install and boot the new kernel.
